Gloria P. Beyer

Gloria P. Beyer received her Ph.D. degree in Engineering Sciences from the University of South Florida in conjunction with the Moffitt Cancer Center in 2002. She also holds advanced degrees in physics and medical health physics from the University of Florida, Florida State University, and the University of Costa Rica. Dr. Beyer has over two decades of experience as a medical physicist having worked for several radiation oncology clinics, for Varian Medical Systems (both as a medical physicist and as an instructor), and as an independent consultant. In 2004 she founded Medical Physics Services, LLC (“MPS”), a company dedicated to providing commissioning and implementation support for Varian linear accelerators. MPS incorporated its European subsidiary, Medical Physics Services International Limited (“MPSi”) in 2008 in response to the increasing demands in European countries for MPS’s services. Dr. Beyer remains the driving force behind MPS and MPSi serving in dual roles as the company’s Chief Medical Physicist and as its Managing Member.

In addition to her consulting work through MPS, Dr. Beyer has remained active at the cutting edge of the medical physics field. She has authored numerous articles and book chapters relating to various aspects of medical physics. Indeed, in 2014 the American Association of Physicists in Medicine awarded Dr. Beyer its Editor In Chief Award of Excellence for an Outstanding General Medical Physics Article for her publication entitled “Commissioning measurements for photon beam data on three TrueBeam linear accelerators, and comparison with Trilogy and Clinac 2100 linear accelerators” (Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics 14, No. 93 (2013). Dr. Beyer is also a regular lecturer and instructor on medical physics related topics and has served an adjunct professor at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center; she is currently an adjunct professor at Oregon State University.
